WELCOME TO THE TELEXSOFT TXNET PERSONAL COMPUTER! BUNDLED WITH THE LATEST VERSION OF TXOS, TXNET ALLOWS YOU TO CONNECT ON-LINE WITH USERS FROM ALL ACROSS THE EAST COAST! YOU CAN ALSO RECIEVE MESSAGES, PLAY GAMES AND DO BUSINESS.
THE YEAR IS 1991. YOU ARE A SOFTWARE TECHNICIAN AT TELEXSOFT REPAIRING PERSONAL COMPUTERS AFFECTED BY VIRUSES. YOUR FIRST JOB IS FIXING A RECENTLY RELEASED TXOS COMPUTER WITH THE STATE OF THE ART ICEBREAKER ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE. ONE PRESS OF THE TILDE KEY (~) AND VIRUSES WILL MELT AWAY!
HOWEVER, SOME VIRUSES ARE HARDER TO FIND THAN OTHERS ... AND SOME ARE MUCH MORE DANGEROUS ...
CREATED IN A WEEK FOR THE SCREAM ROULETTE JAM IN HTML/JS. PLEASE NOTE CODEIUM (CLAUDE 3.5) WAS USED TO GENERATE CODE FOR THE GAME.
ALL OTHER TEXT, VISUAL AND AUDIO ASSETS WERE CREATED MANUALLY, OTHER THAN VIRUSFAQ, TAKEN FROM A 1992 BBS POST STORED ON TEXTFILES.COM, AND THE BIOS STARTUP IMAGE.

this is such a cool game and concept, you captured everything perfectly. it would be amazing to play this on an old CRT.
The png format was released in 1996, i haven't played through it yet to work out if this was intentional?
also i triggered the *event* in the paint program but seem to be soft-locked,
Thanks mate, really appreciate your thoughtful comments! Yes, this was made in a jam environment so I compromised a little on accuracy in some places. The objective of the game, which may not be immediately obvious and is conveyed via the bulletins, is to nullify the virus by executing the ICEBREAKER program by pressing the tilde (~) key. Let me know if this doesn't work. I hope to check out CYBERVOID soon when the SCREAM JAM stuff dies down a little - on the top of my bookmarks bar!
